Setting Table SLA
Get alerted when a table isn't updated on time. Set a simple SLA in one click, or use a custom monitor for rules tied to a specific time of day.
An SLA (service level agreement) on a table tells Revefi how often that table is expected to be updated. If the table goes longer than that without an update, Revefi alerts you so that stale data is caught before it reaches downstream dashboards and users.
You can set an SLA in two ways:
| Method | Best for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| One-click SLA | A simple rolling window | Alert if REGION goes more than 12 hours without an update |
| Custom SLA monitor | Rules tied to a specific time of day, or custom thresholds | Alert if NATION hasn't landed within the hour before 1 AM UTC |
SLA monitors are separate from the automatic Freshness system monitor. Freshness learns a table's usual update cadence on its own. An SLA enforces a window that you choose.
One-click SLA
Use Set SLA when you want an alert any time a table goes longer than a fixed window without an update.
- Go to the Tables page.
- Click the ⋮ menu at the end of the table's row and select Set SLA.
- Under Alert if not updated within, pick a preset window (1 hr, 4 hr, 12 hr, 1 day, 2 days, or 7 days), or enter a custom value in minutes, hours, or days.
- Review the summary, for example "You'll be alerted if REGION goes more than 12 hours without an update. Checked every hour."
- Click Set SLA.
Revefi creates an SLA monitor for the table and confirms it with a notification. The dialog also shows when the table was last updated, which helps you choose a realistic window.
Revefi checks the SLA every hour. If the time since the table's last update exceeds the window, the monitor fails and an alert is sent.
Custom SLA monitor
A one-click SLA checks a rolling window every hour. When you need a rule tied to a specific time of day, such as "the table must land within the hour before 1 AM UTC", create a custom monitor with the Table Loaded Within SLA metric instead.
Table Loaded Within SLA measures how many minutes have passed since the table was last updated. You combine it with a threshold and a run schedule to define your SLA.
- Go to the Tables page.
- Click the ⋮ menu at the end of the table's row and select Create monitor. The table is pre-selected.
- On the Pre-configured tab, enter a Name and, optionally, a Description.
- Under Monitor type, select Table Loaded Within SLA.
- Under Anomaly detection, select Specify thresholds for expected range and set the threshold. For example, Numeric, Less than, 60 means the table must have been updated within the last 60 minutes when the monitor runs.
- Under Frequency, choose when the check runs. To check at a specific hour, select Specific time of day and enter the hour in UTC (0–23). Separate multiple hours with commas, for example
0, 5, 13. - Optionally, click Preview results to see the current value, then click Create monitor.
Example: table must land by 1 AM UTC
To make sure a table is loaded within the hour before 1 AM UTC:
- Monitor type: Table Loaded Within SLA
- Threshold: Numeric, Less than,
60 - Frequency: Specific time of day,
1
At 1 AM UTC each day, Revefi checks how many minutes have passed since the table was last updated. If the table wasn't updated between midnight and 1 AM UTC, the value is 60 or more and the monitor fails.
See Custom Monitors for more on thresholds, frequency options, and previewing results.
